Quantum Coulomb glass on the Bethe lattice

We study the Coulomb glass emerging from the interplay of strong interactions and disorder in a model of spinless fermions on the Bethe lattice [1,2]. In the infinite coordination number limit, we can use dynamical mean field theory to describe the glassy phase, characterized by full replica symmetry breaking.

We construct the complete quantum phase diagram and dynamical properties in the glass phase by treating correlations at the iterative Hartree-Fock level. Melting of the glass is governed by thermal or hopping-induced quantum fluctuations, exceeding the strength of interactions. In the electron glass, an Efros-Shklovskii pseudogap emerges upon decreasing temperatures, but the density of states remains finite at the Fermi energy due to quantum fluctuations, signaling a glassy metal. Our results should be relevant for the glassy dynamics observed in Si inversion layers, persisting in the metallic phase [3].
