Quantum oscillations in the spin liquid state of a-RuCl3
Speaker: N. P. Ong, (Princeton University
The layered honeycomb magnet a-RuCl3 is the closest known proximate to the Kitaev honeycomb Hamiltonian. Experiments suggest that a quantum spin liquid (QSL) state exists in a magnetic field applied along the a axis (between 7 and 12 T). Using high resolution measurements of the thermal conductivity tensor, we have observed the emergence of large amplitude oscillations in Kxx, with maximal amplitude in the QSL state. I will discuss these results. In addition, I will describe the planar thermal Hall conductivity Kxy focusing on whether it is half-quantized.
