Professor Jack Hughes and postdoctoral researcher Kristoffer Eriksen have made the discovery of a pattern 
of X-ray "stripes" in the remains of an exploded star. Their work used observations of the Tycho supernova remnant made with NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory.
