Rutgers astronomers, Prof Andrew Baker, Prof Eric Gawiser, Prof Jack Hughes, and graduate student Amir Kazemi-Moridani, are on a team which has announced the discovery of a powerful, distant megamaser.

The object is a naturally occurring, astronomical, radio-wavelength laser and is located about 5 billion light years from Earth.  Observations were made using South Africa's "MeerKAT" 64 antenna radio telescope array.

More about this discovery is available on the Rutgers News site
