Spring 2026 requests:
Please go to this site if you are applying for a special permission number (SPN) for any undergraduate course EXCEPT honors courses, the online section of General Physics (01:750:204, section 90), Physics for the Sciences (01:750:194) or if you need a prerequisite override.

SPN's will be accepted in three rounds. (If you don’t get an email for an SPN, then it means the section is full.)
Round 1 will open December 5 at 9:00 am. It will be open only to seniors in the class of 2026 and juniors in the class of 2027 with more than 90 credits, and close on December 12 at 5:00 pm.
Round 2 will open December 12 at 5 pm and close January 2 at 5 pm. It will be open to all classes for students with more than 30 credits. Note: Rutgers is closed December 25, 2025, to January 5, 2026; no requests will be processed during this time.
Round 3 will open January 2 at 5 pm and close January 16 at 5pm and will be open to all students. Notifications will go out after review.
For students who have not taken 01:750:193 and 193lab, Physics for the Sciences, and wish to take 01:750:194 (Sections 1-10) and 194lab (Sections 21-30), submit your request in Round 3 only to https://secure.sas.rutgers.edu/apps/special_permission/physics/. Notifications will go out after January 9. Note that very few SPNs are available for 01:750:194 and priority will be given to seniors. You are recommended to take General Physics 01:750:204 and the 206 labs to complete your physics course requirements.
